Beginning Birder Tour

Looking to get into birding? This is the perfect tour for you! Join one of Badgerland Birding’s guides as they show you the ins and outs of birding. Some of the topics discussed along the tour will be identification, habitat, bird calls, and how to increase your knowledge. The location will be dependent upon location of the participant. Anywhere from natural areas to public parks could be potential venues.

Southeastern Lake Shore

Sea ducks and gulls are a prime focus of our guided tour to the western shore of Lake Michigan. Get a look at some of the most northern birds to visit our state as we search the water from Milwaukee to Manitowoc looking for as many rare winter species as we can find. Some target birds include Scoters, Harlequin Ducks, Long-tailed Ducks, winter gulls, and Snowy Owls.

Rare Bird Chase

Are you a fan of looking for rare birds? Of course you are! Accompany us as we search for the rarest birds that are in the state at the time of the tour. Who knows what we will be looking for or where we will be going, but it’s bound to be an adventure!

Horicon Marsh Hot Spots

One of the most exciting places to go birding in Wisconsin is Horicon Marsh. With a plethora of fascinating birds to find and beautiful scenery to enjoy, people come from all over the world to visit this natural area located in central Wisconsin. Target birds include rails, cranes, Trumpeter Swans, Black Terns, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, and a variety of shorebirds that migrate through the marsh, including some rarities such as Ibis’s.

Snowy Owl Surge

One of the most amazing birds to visit Wisconsin in the winter is the Snowy Owl. In some years these birds come down in great numbers and are easy to find. In other years however, you have to know where to look to get a glimpse of this majestic bird. Join us as we travel to the best locations to find Snowy Owls in the state. While there is never a guarantee of finding these elusive birds, this tour gives you a great chance to have your own Snowy Owl experience!

Warbler Watch

One of the best times of the year is spring migration; especially when the warblers are at their peak. In this tour we will be searching for as many warbler species as we can find in locations varying depending on where the best birding is. Likely locations include Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Dane counties. While migration is never 100 percent predictable, we are sure to have a good time looking for rarities and enjoying the colors of the warblers in spring.

Waukesha County Breeding Birds

Waukesha has some amazing places to bird including the Kettle Moraine state forest where many fascinating birds breed. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as we search for Henslow’s Sparrows, Hooded Warblers, Cerulean Warblers, and much more.
